Au 13e siècle existait à cet emplacement une Hôtel-Dieu dont il ne subsiste que les caves se trouvant sous le théâtre. Entre 1515 et 1549, un nouvel établissement hospitalier fut construit dont il reste les murs et la charpente, mais dont les destinations ont changé. En 1869, l'édifice reçut côté Est une façade moderne élevée par De la Morandière. Vers 1657, le bâtiment voisin fut construit aux frais de Louis XIV, Gaston d'Orléans et des plus riches habitants de Blois. Il abritait au rez-de-chaussée la salle des enfants et au premier étage la salle des femmes.

History
In the 13th century there existed at this location a Hôtel-Dieu of which only the cellars beneath the theatre remain. Between 1515 and 1549, a new hospital building was constructed of which the walls and roof structure remain, but whose uses have changed. In 1869, the building received on the East side a modern façade erected by De la Morandière. Around 1657, the neighbouring building was constructed at the expense of Louis XIV, Gaston d'Orléans and the richest inhabitants of Blois. It housed on the ground floor the children's ward and on the first floor the women's ward.
