Parmi les hôtels bâtis aux 15e et 16e siècles à Tours, l'un des plus riches était celui du financier Jacques de Beaune Semblançay. Il s'élevait dans l'angle formé par la rue Colbert et la rue Nationale. Les bombardements de la Seconde guerre mondiale ont détruit complètement ce quartier, et dégagé des restes importants de cette vieille demeure qui était englobée dans les constructions. Deux façades du 15e siècle et deux galeries Renaissance, construites plus tard pour entourer la cour, sont visibles. La plus ancienne de ces galeries est celle qui est adossée à la chapelle Saint-François. Elle aurait été construite vers 1508. Au premier étage, elle comportait une chapelle dont les fenêtres sont encore à meneaux. La seconde, plus importante, a été bâtie dix années plus tard pour relier l'hôtel à celui de Dunois. History
Among the hotels built in the 15th and 16th centuries in Tours, one of the richest was that of the financier Jacques de Beaune Semblançay. It stood in the angle formed by rue Colbert and rue Nationale. The bombardments of the Second World War completely destroyed this quarter, and revealed significant remains of this old dwelling which was engulfed in the constructions. Two facades of the 15th century and two Renaissance galleries, built later to surround the courtyard, are visible. The oldest of these galleries is the one which is backed against the chapel Saint-François. It would have been built around 1508. On the first floor, it contained a chapel whose windows still have mullions. The second, more substantial, was built ten years later to link the hotel to that of Dunois. It comprises five bays. Of these two galleries only the facades remain. The two facades of the hotel proper date from the 15th century.
