Historique
Les bombardements qui, en 1940, ont détruit tout un quartier de Tours, ont dégagé les parties subsistantes de l'hôtel de Beaune Semblançay, oeuvre de la Renaissance, à l'est duquel s'élevait l'église Saint-François. Cet édifice, très endommagé, a été détruit par les Ponts-et-Chaussées, hormis la tour dont la démolition aurait pu occasionner de graves désordres à la chapelle de Beaune qui lui est accolée. Cette tour du 17e siècle présente de larges pilastres, bandeaux et chambranles plats encadrant des fenêtres rectangulaires. La tour conserve, au rez-de-chaussée, une salle ovale, ancienne dépendance de l'église, et un escalier à vis qui communique avec son premier étage.

History
The bombardments which, in 1940, destroyed an entire quarter of Tours, cleared the surviving parts of the hotel de Beaune Semblançay, a work of the Renaissance, to the east of which stood the church Saint-François. This building, very badly damaged, was destroyed by the Ponts-et-Chaussées, except for the tower whose demolition might have caused serious disorders to the chapel of Beaune which is attached to it. This tower of the 17th century presents large pilasters, bands and flat architraves framing rectangular windows. The tower preserves, at ground floor level, an oval room, former dependency of the church, and a spiral staircase which communicates with its first floor.
