Historique
Maison qui fut la maison des champs de la famille de Rabelais et qui serait, pour certains historiens, le lieu même de sa naissance. Cette construction, située dans la cour commune d'exploitations agricoles, date du 15e siècle. Elle consiste en un logis rectangulaire présentant deux murs pignons, et comprenant un rez-de-chaussée et un étage avec escalier extérieur. Cet escalier est flanqué de deux piliers sur plan carré jusqu'à l'appui du parapet, puis passant à la forme octogonale pour supporter un auvent de protection. Rez-de-chaussée et premier étage ne comportaient, à l'origine, qu'une seule pièce. Celle du premier a été divisée par des cloisons en une grande et deux petites salles. Elle conserve un plafond à poutres et solives apparentes, une cheminée de pierre sans doute du 17e siècle. Attenant au vieux logis, le colombier est constitué par plusieurs séries de goulines superposées et creusées dans le pignon sud et dans le mur Est d'un bâtiment de servitude, construit au sud de la maison. Ce type de colombier, contemporain de la maison, est rare en Touraine.

History
House which was the country house of the Rabelais family and which would be, for certain historians, the very place of his birth. This construction, situated in the common courtyard of agricultural holdings, dates from the 15th century. It consists of a rectangular main dwelling presenting two gables, and comprising a ground floor and an upper storey with external staircase. This staircase is flanked by two pillars on a square plan up to the parapet support, then passing to octagonal form to support a protective canopy. Ground floor and first storey originally comprised only a single room. That of the first storey has been divided by partitions into one large and two small rooms. It retains a ceiling with exposed beams and joists, a stone fireplace probably from the 17th century. Adjoining the old main dwelling, the pigeon house is constituted by several series of nesting holes superimposed and hollowed out in the south gable and in the east wall of a service building, constructed to the south of the house. This type of pigeon house, contemporary with the house, is rare in Touraine.
