The fief has been known since the 14th century, and was held from the provostship of Oe. The present château was built in 1636 by Honorat de Bueil, baron de Racan. The building comprised two pavilions, connected by a transverse building whose ground floor was pierced by a door linking the north courtyard to the main courtyard. In the East pavilion was the chapel whose access was by the staircase called the Horseshoe. This East pavilion and the two eastern thirds of the central building have disappeared. The terrace was established in 1880 on the substructures of the old château, and remade in 1895. The present building comprises the East pavilion, and the western part of the central building. The north-west corner is accompanied by a polygonal turret supported by a masonry spur. To the east, a door limiting the main courtyard is pierced in the wall supporting the upper terrace, and gives access to the Horseshoe staircase. Further north, a shell sculpted in the facing of the same wall, is a remnant of Racan's dining room.
