Historique
Ancienne châtellenie relevant de l'Ile-Bouchard. Le château d'époque féodale, a subi des modifications à la fin du 16e et au 18e siècle. Du château primitif restent une tour cylindrique, vestige de l'ancienne enceinte ; la base d'une autre tour incorporée dans le château actuel ; une partie des douves. Honoré de Balzac était reçu à Saché par les Margonne, amis de ses parents. Il y séjourna pendant sa jeunesse, puis chaque année de 1829 à 1838 pour des séjours de plusieurs semaines. Il y écrivit entre autre "Le Lys dans la vallée", "Eugénie Grandet", "Le Père Goriot", "La cousine Bette", "Louis Lambert" et "La recherche de l'Absolu". La salle à manger, aménagée en 1802, est ornée de papiers peints et de boiseries de style Directoire. La chambre de Balzac est tendue de papier, et possède un trumeau de boiseries Louis XVI ainsi qu'une cheminée de marbre noir du 19e siècle.

History
Former castellany dependent on Ile-Bouchard. The château of feudal period underwent modifications at the end of the 16th and in the 18th century. Of the primitive château remain a cylindrical tower, vestige of the old enclosure; the base of another tower incorporated into the present château; part of the moats. Honoré de Balzac was received at Saché by the Margonne, friends of his parents. He stayed there during his youth, then each year from 1829 to 1838 for stays of several weeks. He wrote there amongst other works "The Lily of the Valley", "Eugénie Grandet", "Le Père Goriot", "Cousin Bette", "Louis Lambert" and "The Quest for the Absolute". The dining room, fitted out in 1802, is adorned with wallpapers and wood panelling in the Directoire style. Balzac's bedroom is hung with wallpaper, and possesses an over-door panel of Louis XVI woodwork as well as a black marble fireplace from the 19th century.
