History

The edifice dates as a whole from the 12th century, and comprises a single nave, a transept whose crossing is surmounted by a tower, and a choir with semi-circular apse. The bays are separated by engaged columns not provided with capitals, which indicate that a vault probably barrel vault was intended over the vessel. The nave is covered with a roof structure coffered in round arch. The gutter walls, less elevated than the wall of the west facade, indicate either a halt in construction, or subsequent alterations. On each of the arms of the transept opens a chapel vaulted in apse. The vault of the transept square, remade or executed with the tower which surmounts it at a later period (probably 16th century), is currently vaulted in cloister arch. The west facade opens by a round-arch portal, flanked on each side by three small columns with carved capitals. The door, which did not appear to have a tympanum, was reduced in width in the 15th century by a wall pierced by a narrower door. Above, the facade presents small coursework in the form of inverted scales. On the crossing of the transept, the bell tower presents itself as a rectangular tower whose bell-chamber storey, more modern, probably dates from the 16th century.
