Historique
Le château fut fondé en 1228 par Hugues des Roches, abbé de Marmoutier. Il était fortifié et entouré de douves. A l'intérieur de l'enceinte se trouve l'église, ancien bénéfice de l'église de Marmoutier qui la tenait d'un don fait par Archambault, archevêque de Tours en 991. La partie la plus ancienne de l'édifice date de l'époque romane, de même que la tour beffroi qui la précède. La voûte en charpente est plus tardive, tirants et poinçons étant gothiques. History
The castle was founded in 1228 by Hugues des Roches, abbot of Marmoutier. It was fortified and surrounded by a moat. Inside the enclosure is found the church, former benefice of the church of Marmoutier which held it from a gift made by Archambault, archbishop of Tours in 991. The oldest part of the building dates from the Romanesque period, as does the belfry tower which precedes it. The timber vault is later, ties and posts being Gothic. In the 17th century, the flat chevet was extended with an apse with flat bottom, narrower than the church, covered with a stone vault in the form of a basket handle.
