Historique
Château construit au 14e siècle à l'emplacement d'une forteresse plus ancienne, puis agrandi au cours des deux siècles suivants. Les façades sont flanquées de tours d'angle garnies de mâchicoulis. A son angle nord-est, le château est accompagné d'un donjon rectangulaire avec mâchicoulis et dont l'étage supérieur a été modifié au 18e siècle, au moment de la réfection de la façade nord et des percements. Au sud-est, un châtelet aux angles accostés de tourelles en encorbellement est relié au château par une galerie supportée par deux arcades. A l'est subsiste une tour polygonale qui appartenait aux moyens de défense. Des souterrains de défense, très étroits, décrivent des lacets dans le rocher, interrompus de place en place par d'épaisses portes. Vers le fond, des chambres de retrait étaient approvisionnées d'eau par une fontaine.

History
Castle built in the 14th century at the site of an older fortress, then enlarged during the two following centuries. The façades are flanked by corner towers furnished with machicolations. At its north-east angle, the castle is accompanied by a rectangular keep with machicolations, and whose upper storey was modified in the 18th century, at the time of the refection of the north façade and the openings. To the south-east, a small château with tourelles in corbelling at its angles is connected to the castle by a gallery supported by two arcades. To the east remains a polygonal tower which belonged to the means of defence. Very narrow defensive underground passages describe zigzags in the rock, interrupted from place to place by thick doors. Towards the back, chambers of retreat were supplied with water by a fountain.
