History
The building was greatly restored and reworked over the centuries. The bell tower, which comprises a seigneurial chapel vaulted on a rib vault, dates back to the 15th century. The nave was rebuilt in 1790. But it was in the 19th century that the church took its present appearance: the diocesan architect Guérin enlarged the church in 1856-1857 and the master glazier Lobin created the stained-glass windows. The abbé Guillot, curate of Azay, himself sculpted, between 1856 and 1880, the interior decoration in neogothic style, still in place.
