History

Given in 927 to the abbey of Déols, the land of Magny became an important priory. In the 15th century, it was partly rebuilt, surrounded by a defensive wall and occupied by men-at-arms (1427). In 1628, the priory was attached to the duchy of Châteauroux, then to the royal domain during the 18th century. In 1791, the dwelling and farm buildings were sold as national property. The conventional buildings were converted into a farm and the church became communal. The construction of the latter probably dates from the early 12th century. The building underwent many alterations, particularly in the 15th century (reconstruction of the nave, raising of the apse). A bell tower was erected in 1704.
