Historique
Forteresse fondée au 12e siècle. Au 17e siècle, elle comprenait des douves entourées de hautes murailles, flanquées de huit tours. A l'intérieur se trouvait le pavillon, des corps de logis, des écuries, une grange et une fuye. De ces éléments subsistent les enceintes, deux des tours ayant conservé leurs toitures. Les tours comportent de un à trois étages consistant en salles de tir et de défense faisant de cette édifice un specimen de l'architecture militaire. Certaines tours sont particulières avec un éperon au-dessus des douves. Le portail à mâchicoulis existe encore, mais le pont-levis a été maçonné. A l'intérieur de l'enceinte se trouvent des bâtiments modernes : un manoir et une bergerie du 18e siècle, les communs du 19e siècle, le tout rebâti sur le corps de logis du 15e siècle et sur les restes du chastel du 12e siècle. L'ensemble doit sans doute conserver des salles et galeries souterraines non encore explorées.

History
Fortress founded in the 12th century. In the 17th century, it comprised moats surrounded by high walls, flanked by eight towers. Inside were the pavilion, residential buildings, stables, a barn and a dovecote. Of these elements the enclosures survive, two of the towers having retained their roofs. The towers comprise one to three storeys consisting of gun and defensive rooms making this building a specimen of military architecture. Some towers are distinctive with a cutwater above the moats. The machicolated gateway still exists, but the drawbridge has been built up with masonry. Inside the enclosure are modern buildings: a manor and a sheepfold of the 18th century, outbuildings of the 19th century, all rebuilt on the residential building of the 15th century and on the remains of the stronghold of the 12th century. The complex should doubtless preserve halls and underground galleries not yet explored.
