Historique
Forteresse du seigneur de Déols, ayant appartenu en dernier lieu à Mademoiselle de Montpensier, cousine de Louis XIV. De la grosse tour partent des courtines, flanquées de trois tours à meurtrières plus petites. Elles rejoignent la porte d'entrée ogivale fermée par deux vantaux de chêne garnis de clous à têtes apparentes, encadrée par deux tourelles munies d'archères. Une rampe oblique y donnait accès et se terminait par une barbacane. Un mur intérieur devait clore, dans cette enceinte, une petite cour située entre le donjon, la chapelle et la maison seigneuriale. Celle-ci se composait d'un logis rectangulaire et d'une tourelle d'escalier.

History
Fortress of the lord of Déols, which last belonged to Mademoiselle de Montpensier, cousin of Louis XIV. From the main tower depart curtain walls, flanked by three smaller towers with loopholes. They meet the pointed-arch entrance door closed by two oak leaves fitted with prominent-headed nails, framed by two turrets equipped with arrow slits. An oblique ramp gave access to it and ended in a barbican. An interior wall must have enclosed, within this enclosure, a small courtyard situated between the keep, the chapel and the seigneurial dwelling. The latter consisted of a rectangular main dwelling and a stair turret.
