L'abbaye de Massay possédait un prieuré à La Berthenoux, fondé au 9e siècle, incendié en 1171, dont il ne subsiste aujourd'hui que l'église devenue paroissiale depuis la Révolution. C'est un édifice entièrement de la seconde moitié du 12e siècle, à nef unique avec transept et choeur, terminée par une abside circulaire. Deux absidioles ornent les bras du transept. Un clocher s'élève sur la croisée. L'église s'ouvrait par un portail orné d'un boudin reposant sur deux colonnes à chapiteaux sculptés. La nef, primitivement recouverte en charpente, a été restaurée et voûtée. Le transept, sur plan carré, est voûté en arc de cloître à huit pans reposant sur trompes et supporté par quatre doubleaux retombant sur huit colonnes aux chapiteaux sculptés (feuillages, personnages). L'abside est éclairée par trois fenêtres ornées de colonnettes aux chapiteaux sculptés. Des peintures en trompe l'oeil du 18e siècle décorent l'abside.

History
The abbey of Massay possessed a priory at La Berthenoux, founded in the 9th century, burned in 1171, of which there subsists today only the church which has been parochial since the Revolution. It is a building entirely of the second half of the 12th century, with a single nave, transept and choir, ended by a circular apse. Two absidioles adorn the arms of the transept. A bell tower rises over the crossing. The church opened by a portal ornamented with a moulding resting on two columns with sculptured capitals. The nave, originally covered with timber roof structure, has been restored and vaulted. The transept, on square plan, is vaulted with a cloister arch on eight sides resting on squinches and supported by four double arches resting on eight columns with sculptured capitals (foliage, figures). The apse is lit by three windows adorned with small columns with sculptured capitals. Trompe l'oeil paintings of the 18th century decorate the apse.
