La tour de l'église fut construite vers le milieu du 12e siècle, par Hugues II, seigneur de Châteauneuf et de Senonches. Elle est bâtie avec du grison. A son origine, cette tour servait de poste d'observation et de forteresse destinée à protéger le château. La tourelle octogonale de l'escalier en spirale (122 marches) , possède trente-deux regards ou meurtrières disposés pour la défense du donjon en cas de siège. L'extérieur présente cinq étages. History
The tower of the church was built around the middle of the 12th century, by Hughes II, lord of Châteauneuf and Senonches. It is built with granite. Originally, this tower served as an observation post and fortress intended to protect the château. The octagonal turret of the spiral staircase (122 steps), possesses thirty-two openings or loopholes arranged for the defence of the keep in case of siege. The exterior presents five storeys. The windows are Romanesque and vary in form at each storey. The church was situated in the interior of the stronghold, protected by the moats. It formed itself a rampart.
