Le jardin de l'Abbaye a été créé par la Ville en 1922 et aménagé, après concours en 1927, par l'architecte et sculpteur Eugène-Henri Karcher, qui y a utilisé les techniques les plus modernes (béton, éclairage électrique). Il a été inauguré en 1935 avec un monument aux morts et un kiosque-lavoir. History
The Abbey garden was created by the City in 1922 and laid out, after a competition in 1927, by the architect and sculptor Eugène-Henri Karcher, who used the most modern techniques there (concrete, electric lighting). It was inaugurated in 1935 with a war memorial and a lavoir kiosk. The war memorial is decorated with bas-reliefs and statues representing the Poilus, Work, the Fatherland, the Mother of Sorrows, etc. The ceramics are from the Denbach manufactory (named after the ceramicists Denert and Balichon) while the ironwork is by Louis Charbonnier.
