Au 9e siècle : première mention du site. Au 11e siècle : première mention de seigneurs de la Porte qui construisent le château fort d'Yssertieux. A la fin du 15e siècle, Pierre de la Porte fait construire l'ouvrage d'entrée. Au 16e siècle, Jean V obtient l'autorisation d'établir une chapelle. En 1656, un logis neuf remplace le donjon qui occupait le côté nord. En 1856, deux galeries sont construites à la place des courtines ouest et est, le logis est rehaussé d'un étage et les fenêtres des tours adjacentes modifiées.

History
In the 9th century: first mention of the site. In the 11th century: first mention of lords of la Porte who built the strong castle of Yssertieux. The four towers and the curtain wall that remain probably date from the 14th century. They were heavily remodelled in 1424 for Odast de la Porte. At the end of the 15th century, Pierre de la Porte had the entrance structure built. In the 16th century, Jean V obtained authorisation to establish a chapel. In 1656, a new main dwelling replaced the keep which occupied the north side. In 1856, two galleries were built in place of the west and east curtain walls, the main dwelling was raised by one storey and the windows of the adjacent towers modified.
