"Cette fontaine a été érigée en exécution d'un legs consenti à la ville de Bourges par Paul-Adrien Bourdaloue, maire-adjoint, ingénieur ayant travaillé notamment au nivellement de l'isthme de Suez, décédé en 1868. L'ouvrage est constitué d'un bassin en pierre de forme circulaire et, au centre, de deux vasques superposées ornées au pied de trois lions ailés et, au sommet, d'un "amour". Cet ensemble est prolongé, en avant de la place, par une borne-fontaine en pierre, surmontée d'un motif de fonte représentant un "amour" entouré de dauphins."

History
"This fountain was erected in execution of a bequest made to the city of Bourges by Paul-Adrien Bourdaloue, assistant mayor, engineer who worked notably on the levelling of the Suez isthmus, deceased in 1868. The structure consists of a basin in stone of circular form and, in the centre, of two superimposed basins ornamented at the foot with three winged lions and, at the top, with a "cherub". This ensemble is extended, in front of the square, by a stone bollard-fountain, surmounted by a cast-iron motif representing a "cherub" surrounded by dolphins."
