Rare témoin de l'industrie pastellière qui fit la prospérité du midi toulousain et de l'albigeois aux 15e et 16e siècles, ce moulin est l'un des derniers moulins à pastel, utilisé pour la teinture des étoffes, à avoir fonctionné dans la région : les meules sont encore réparées en 1860. L'édifice servait également de séchoir à pastel : attenant et perpendiculaire au bâtiment le plus ancien de la cour fermée daté du 16e siècle, il a l'allure d'un hangar de ferme ; le mur, au nord-ouest, présente trois rangées horizontales d'aérations en triangle. Le sol en terre battue a conservé, en son centre et à sa place d'origine, la meule dormante, fait rarissime pour la région. Elle présente des alvéoles irrégulières sur toute la surface et possède dix-sept rayons d'écoulement. A quelques mètres, la meule tournante en granite, mue jadis par la traction animale, sert de seuil à la porte d'entrée de la maison du 16e siècle.

History
Rare testimony to the pastel industry which brought prosperity to the Toulouse and Albi regions in the 15th and 16th centuries, this mill is one of the last pastel mills, used for the dyeing of fabrics, to have operated in the region: the millstones are still in use in 1860. The building also served as a pastel drying shed: adjoining and perpendicular to the oldest building of the closed courtyard dated to the 16th century, it has the appearance of a farm shed; the wall, to the north-west, presents three horizontal rows of triangular ventilation openings. The beaten earth floor has preserved, at its centre and in its original position, the stationary millstone, an extremely rare fact for the region. It presents irregular pits on the entire surface and has seventeen drainage grooves. A few metres away, the rotating millstone in granite, formerly moved by animal traction, serves as the threshold of the entrance door of the 16th century house.
