Historique
L'ancien monastère des ermites de Cahors a été, à la fin du 19e siècle, la maison de campagne de Gambetta. Il se compose d'un ensemble de constructions très simples du 17e siiècle. La partie la plus intéressante est une longue galerie ouverte à piliers de bois, donnant sur l'extérieur, et dont le sol est constitué d'une mosaïque de galets. Cette galerie aboutit à une chapelle à nef large et choeur étroit, possédant d'intéressants plafonds. Celui de la nef, peint sur planches jointives, présente, autour d'un médaillon ovale représentant l'Assomption, de grands compartiments remplis de rinceaux de feuillages. Celui du choeur, en bois sculpté et peint, montre un Christ en forte saillie dans un médaillon central entouré d'un arrangement de fortes moulures. Cette décoration porte la marque du 17e siècle et aurait été exécutée vers 1686 ou 1687, date de l'inauguration de la chapelle.

History
The old monastery of the hermits of Cahors was, at the end of the 19th century, the country house of Gambetta. It consists of a group of very simple buildings of the 17th century. The most interesting part is a long open gallery with wooden pillars, facing outward, and whose floor is formed of a mosaic of pebbles. This gallery leads to a chapel with wide nave and narrow choir, possessing interesting ceilings. That of the nave, painted on joined boards, presents, around an oval medallion representing the Assumption, large compartments filled with foliate scrollwork. That of the choir, in sculpted and painted wood, shows a Christ in strong relief in a central medallion surrounded by an arrangement of strong mouldings. This decoration bears the mark of the 17th century and is said to have been executed around 1686 or 1687, the date of the inauguration of the chapel.
