Cette tour du 13e siècle est située près de l'église, et constitue le principal vestige de l'ancien manoir ayant appartenu au cardinal d'Aux, fondateur de la collégiale de La Romieu, et devait se relier à l'enceinte de l'abbaye. Elle est établie sur un plan carré, et entièrement construite en pierre de taille. Elle comporte un rez-de-chaussée et deux étages. Le rez-de-chaussée a été surélevé d'environ trois mètres au-dessus du sol actuel du jardin. Il est voûté sur croisées d'ogives et formerets retombant sur des têtes sculptées, présentant encore des traces d'anciennes peintures. L'accès au premier étage s'effectuait par un escalier disparu.

History
This tower of the 13th century is located near the church, and constitutes the principal remnant of the old manor which belonged to the cardinal d'Aux, founder of the collegiate church of La Romieu, and was meant to connect to the enclosure of the abbey. It is established on a square plan, and entirely constructed of dressed stone. It comprises a ground floor and two storeys. The ground floor has been raised by approximately three metres above the current level of the garden. It is vaulted on rib vaults and wall ribs resting on sculpted heads, which still present traces of former paintings. Access to the first floor was effected by a vanished staircase.
