Des remparts qui défendaient la ville ne subsiste plus, du côté nord, que leur base. A l'extrémité nord-est se trouve la tour dite du Bourreau. Elle barrait le promontoire du côté où il était accessible. Sa face sud est constituée par un mur droit. Elle présente un léger encorbellement qui soutenait sans doute un système défensif. History
Of the ramparts that defended the town, only their base remains on the north side. At the north-east extremity stands the tower known as the Executioner's Tower. It barred the promontory from the side where it was accessible. Its south face consists of a straight wall. It presents a slight corbelling which no doubt supported a defensive system. In the basement, a room defended by a loophole no doubt gave access to underground passages. The base of the structure may date from the 11th century, but the upper defences certainly date from the 14th. The use of two different masonry techniques is apparent on the tower. In 1476, Lectoure underwent a siege which damaged its fortifications.
