Historique
L'église daterait de la période des guerres civiles et religieuses, d'où son aspect militaire rappelant celui d'un château-fort. L'abside à pans coupés est solidifiée par des piliers intérieurs enchassés dans les murailles. La nef est divisée en quatre travées. Huit chapelles y sont ouvertes, dont deux ont été murées. Le sanctuaire est polygonal. La façade, au centre de laquelle est placée une porte terminée en ogive, est surmontée d'une galerie. Du côté nord, s'élève le clocher qui servait de tour de guetteur à l'ancien château, pour la surveillance du pont. Sa base conserve sa forme massive sur 23 mètres. L'extrémité est couronnée par une ceinture de mâchicoulis portés sur des consoles. Sur cette élévation, la tour de guetteur octogonale est divisée en trois étages.

History
The church would date from the period of civil and religious wars, hence its military appearance recalling that of a stronghold. The apse with cut sides is solidified by interior pillars embedded in the walls. The nave is divided into four bays. Eight chapels open into it, two of which have been walled up. The sanctuary is polygonal. The facade, at the centre of which is placed a door terminated in an ogive, is surmounted by a gallery. On the north side, rises the bell tower which served as a watchcower of the old castle, for the surveillance of the bridge. Its base retains its massive form over 23 metres. The extremity is crowned by a belt of machicolations borne on consoles. On this elevation, the octagonal watchtower is divided into three storeys.
