Château composé d'un corps de logis à un étage, flanqué de quatre pavillons de plan en losange destiné à favoriser le flanquement et à proscrire tout angle mort. History
Castle composed of a single-storey main dwelling, flanked by four pavilions of diamond-shaped plan designed to favour flanking and to preclude any dead ground. The entrance façade was remodelled when the building was converted into a courthouse, after 1820. The presence of pilasters, consoles in the form of triglyphs and lintels ornamented with geometric motifs, are not earlier than the early 17th century. The present castle cannot be the one that underwent the Protestant siege of 1576. For the first time in the history of the French castle, the plan responds to a standardized formula that the architect and engineer Dominique Bachelier uses on multiple occasions. It prefigures constructions in the Vauban manner.
