The château de Vixouges (name of the family which possessed it until the 15th century) is a building resulting from a succession of transformations and enlargements at various periods, but which presents a certain homogeneity. In the 13th century, stood a simple rectangular keep surrounded by an enclosure; severely damaged during the Franco-English wars, it was largely remodelled and reorganised (fireplaces) in the 15th century. At the same period, the south-east and south-west enclosure towers were built. In the 17th century, arrangement of the west wings (chapel, bread oven) and east (reconstruction of walls). In the 18th century, construction of a long rear section, reorganisation of the first storey (painted coffered ceiling), total restoration of the roofs, construction of a perron and a boundary wall.
