Historique

History
The choir of this church is an authentic example of Auvergnat Romanesque architecture. The building presents an oblong choir with semi-circular apse of the 12th century, preceded by a rectangular nave also Romanesque but subsequently covered with rib vaults and flanked, in the 15th century, by two northern lateral bays and a southern chapel. The nave is divided into four bays separated by broken vault ribs, of rectangular profile. The straight bay of the choir is covered with a round-arch barrel vault. The gutter walls are lightened by two arcatures whose median support is made on a corbel with an animal mask and the lateral supports on sculpted capitals. The arch framing the entrance to the apse is received on a pilaster by means of sculpted imposts. The perimeter of the apse presents supports with sculpted capitals and abacuses with decoration of Carolingian reminiscence (interlace). The bell tower-wall with three round-arch openings was re-erected in the modern period above the triumphal arch.
