History
In the 14th century, a fortified house served as a base for the English to extort money from the population. It was taken back from them in 1367-1369 by Louis II of Bourbon. The castle was almost entirely rebuilt in the 15th century, after the destruction of the fortified house during the Hundred Years' War. In 1762, the property was embellished with the creation of a garden on the occasion of its elevation to a county. In 1928, complete restoration of the buildings and gardens, the latter being entrusted to landscape architect Treyve.
