Historique
Maison d’artisans et de marchands construite le long de la façade méridionale et au droit du croisillon sud de l’église Saint-Pierre. Longtemps propriété de la famille Menot, pintiers (fabricants de récipients en étain) de profession, elle fait l’objet d’un partage, en 1719 et 1725, entre Nicolas Menot, notaire royal, et Gilbert, son frère, marchand regratier puis praticien en droit [AD Allier, 3 E 14431 (147), 30 juillet 1725, vente et acte de dépôt Menot]. Maison constituée d'un rez-de-chaussée de pierre avec une colonnette engagée à l'angle. En façade sur la rue des Cinq Piliers, porte en tiers point encadrée de moulures. Premier étage en bois, à encorbellement, avec poteaux moulurés et décorés de gâbles fleuronnés rejoignant les bases de statuettes représentant les douze apôtres, détériorées à la Révolution. Trois grandes fenêtres, dont une percée dans le pignon, sont surmontées d'accolades supportées par des statuettes d'anges et d'animaux. Sur le pignon, la première ferme de la charpente est supportée par un arc brisé avec faux entrait et poinçon. La niche d'angle est surmontée d'un dais fleuronné et supportée par un ange aux ailes éployées [P. History
House of craftsmen and merchants built along the southern facade and at the level of the south transept of the church of Saint-Pierre. Long the property of the Menot family, pinmakers (makers of tinware containers) by profession, it was the subject of a partition, in 1719 and 1725, between Nicolas Menot, royal notary, and Gilbert, his brother, wholesale merchant and then legal practitioner [AD Allier, 3 E 14431 (147), 30 July 1725, sale and deed of deposit Menot]. House consisting of a ground floor of stone with an engaged colonnette at the corner. On the facade facing the rue des Cinq Piliers, a pointed-arch door framed with mouldings. First floor in wood, corbelled, with moulded posts decorated with fleuronned gables joining the bases of statuettes representing the twelve apostles, damaged during the Revolution. Three large windows, one of which is pierced in the gable, are topped with pointed arches supported by statuettes of angels and animals. On the gable, the first tie of the roof structure is supported by a pointed arch with false tie and king-post. The corner niche is topped with a fleuronned canopy and supported by an angel with wings spread [P.
