Le château occupe le sommet d'une butte dominant le village. Il se compose d'une enceinte flanquée, aux angles, du côté du pont-levis, de deux grosses tours et trois petites. Les murs d'enceinte et ces tours formaient le système de défense au 14e siècle. Au centre s'élevait le donjon. A la Renaissance, d'importantes modifications furent faites par Jacques de Chabannes. Un corps de logis situé à gauche du pont-levis date de cette époque. Un portail 15e siècle, avec moulures à méplat donne accès à ce bâtiment.

History
The castle occupies the summit of a mound dominating the village. It consists of an enclosure flanked, at the angles, on the side of the drawbridge, by two large towers and three small ones. The enclosure walls and these towers formed the defensive system in the 14th century. At the centre stood the keep. At the Renaissance, important modifications were made by Jacques de Chabannes. A building body located to the left of the drawbridge dates from this period. A 15th-century portal, with flat mouldings gives access to this building.
