History

Château very much altered in the 19th century, preserving several old elements. The chapel bearing the date of 1582 is a rare example of religious architecture in the region for this period. It is a construction with a flat chevet and with exposed roof structure, which rests against a round tower, certainly much earlier, demolished at the Revolution, vestige of the old defensive system which surrounded the château. An element of a parapet walk perpendicular to the north-west facade of the château and ending in a square tower, dates back to the Middle Ages. The south-east facade of the château was entirely remade in the 19th century, but it preserves at the south angle a round tower of the medieval period and to the north-east a square tower whose masonry also appears old. The north-west facade appears to date from the 16th century and includes the parapet walk as well as a square tower at its centre.
