Historique

History
Building mixing French architecture with Anglo-Saxon or Rhenish influence. In the Middle Ages, a château with towers at the corners stood on an old Roman road. The château is preceded to the north by an entrance courtyard formerly ordered in the French manner, all around which the outbuildings are ordered symmetrically. To the south of the courtyard, is found the château, of rectangular plan with one storey above the ground floor, at the centre of the buildings closing the courtyard. It is accompanied by elongated constructions. The circular towers and buildings are adorned with polychrome bricks. The interiors are characteristic of the second half of the 18th century. The central part of the château is occupied on the ground floor by a north entrance vestibule opening onto a staircase cage, preceding a vast hall at the centre of which rise two Doric columns. The dining room comprises a decoration of painted stuccos Louis XVI and Empire. The salon possesses a Louis XV limestone fireplace. A small room comprises a decoration of woodwork and a fireplace presenting the particularity of offering, at the centre of its lintel, a tree of liberty sculpted at the time of the Revolution in replacement of the original motif. The chapel possesses a stuccoed decoration of the 18th century, and a foundation plate dated 1628. A zoological reserve is installed in the domain of the château.
