La porte du Besset, après la porte principale de La Halle, devait être la plus importante. History
Element of the defensive urban fortification. In general, continuous fortifications were established in the early 14th century, shortly after the Hundred Years' War. The Besset gate, after the main gate of La Halle, must have been the most important. The structure has retained no defensive apparatus and opens to the south on two pointed arches, the second, lower one, following fortification traditions, serving to receive the portcullis. The interior voussure, in basket-handle form, supported the guard chamber and lookout.
