History

Small rural building dating back to the Romanesque period for the apse (12th century), altered and completed in the Gothic period (lateral chapels) and classical period (for the square bell tower on transept and south porch). The building presents a very compact plan: a short nave of a single bay vaulted with barrel vault, flanked to the north by a lateral aisle vaulted with broken barrel vault; a porch on the south side vaulted with segmental transverse barrel vault; a transept composed of a crossing covered by a dome whose springings rest in successive offsets on slabs and corbels, and croisillons vaulted with ribs, lower than the nave; a semicircular apse vaulted with cul-de-four on which opens, to the north, the sacristy set off-centre. Squat and of square plan, the bell tower rises on the crossing of the transept. Its upper level is pierced with four wide round arches which appear to have been altered at an indeterminate date. The principal interest of the monument resides in the sculptured decoration of the choir: eleven sculptured corbels support the cornice decorated with egg-and-dart moulding. The corbels show small grotesque figures, human figures and interlace. Inside, the apse is decorated with five arcades whose springings rest on capitals with interlace and figures.
