On comptait autrefois plus d'une dizaine de moulins à Ally, le plateau situé à 900 mètres d'altitude étant particulièrement propice au développement de ce type d'édifice. Ce moulin-tour circulaire, bâti en moellons assisés, possède un mécanisme d'origine entièrement intact ; il a été bâti en 1882 et utilisé jusqu'en 1956 ; il est coiffé d'une toiture conique composée d'une charpente tournante recouverte d'un voligeage jointif garni de couvre-joints. Une bâtière posée sur le cône de la toiture permet de dégager un tympan triangulaire où sont fixées les ailes de bois ; au droit de l'axe des ailes à traverses, une perche emmanchée dans une saillie métallique permet de faire pivoter la charpente, afin que l'orientation des ailes au vent soit toujours parfaite.

Ally formerly counted more than a dozen mills, the plateau situated at 900 metres altitude being particularly conducive to the development of this type of building. This circular tower mill, built in coursed rubble stone, possesses an entirely intact original mechanism; it was built in 1882 and used until 1956; it is topped with a conical roof composed of a turning roof structure covered with close-fitting boarding furnished with joint-covers. A couple roof placed on the cone of the roof allows for clearing a triangular tympanum where the wooden sails are fixed; at the level of the axis of the cross-braced sails, a pole fitted into a metal projection allows the roof structure to be rotated, so that the orientation of the sails to the wind is always perfect.
