Historique
Fontaine de 1858, située sur l'ancien foirail de Montferrand, composée d'un bassin circulaire et d'un fût central à deux robinets crachés par un masque de faune dont les attributs symbolisent, sur chacune des faces, une saison. Autour et au-dessus de chaque masque, s'ordonne en bas-relief un décor foisonnant (barbe se terminant en cornes d'abondance, candélabre à palmes...). En amortissement, un cylindre aux extrémités évidées est orné de deux têtes de béliers. Cet ouvrage est un exemple tardif de décor Restauration, vraisemblablement exécuté à partir d'une gravure.

History
Fountain of 1858, situated on the former fair-ground of Montferrand, composed of a circular basin and a central shaft with two taps spouted by a faun-mask whose attributes symbolize, on each of the faces, a season. Around and above each mask, there is arranged in bas-relief an abundant decoration (beard ending in cornucopiae, candelabrum with palms...). As a finial, a cylinder with hollowed ends is adorned with two ram heads. This work is a late example of Restoration decoration, presumably executed from an engraving.
