Historique
Elevé face à l'église, au bord de la route, ce calvaire présente un parti original, mi calvaire, mi fontaine. Cet édicule se compose d'une fontaine au bassin polygonal, surmonté de trois socles. Le socle principal, au centre, percé de deux robinets d'approvisionnement du bassin, supporte une croix. Les socles latéraux, plus petits, supportent les statues de la Vierge et de Saint-Jean. Un dragon ailé à la queue enroulée autour du fût de la croix, crache l'eau par sa gueule. Cette eau est recueillie dans une vasque supportée par un personnage accroupi, et retombe ensuite dans le bassin. Le Christ, ceint d'un pagne noué et portant une couronne d'épines, est surmonté du titulus. Le croisillon de la croix, de section polygonale, dessine une auréole derrière la tête du Christ. Cette oeuvre a peut-être réalisée par Channeboux, sculpteur de Volvic.

History
Raised opposite the church, at the edge of the road, this calvary presents an original arrangement, half calvary, half fountain. This small building is composed of a fountain with a polygonal basin, surmounted by three bases. The main base, at the centre, pierced by two taps supplying the basin, supports a cross. The lateral bases, smaller, support the statues of the Virgin and of Saint John. A winged dragon with tail coiled around the shaft of the cross, spurts water from its mouth. This water is collected in a basin supported by a crouching figure, and then falls back into the basin. The Christ, girt with a knotted loincloth and wearing a crown of thorns, is surmounted by the titulus. The cross-bar of the cross, of polygonal section, draws a halo behind the head of Christ. This work may perhaps have been made by Channeboux, sculptor of Volvic.
