En 1096, cette église fut comprise, par une bulle, dans les dépendances du prieuré de Sauxillanges. Il y eut, à Saint-Victor, un prieuré qui releva de l'abbaye de la Chaise-Dieu et qui fut uni, en 1347, au couvent des Bénédictions de Saint-Robert de Montferrand. L'édifice comporte une nef de deux travées voûtée en plein cintre. Le berceau retombe de chaque côté sur deux arcs prenant appui au milieu de la nef sur une colonne engagée dont les chapiteaux sont sculptés de larges feuilles d'eau et de deux motifs circulaires. Le transept est séparé de la nef par un arc en plein cintre. Le sanctuaire, séparé du choeur par un arc, est voûté en cul-de-four. Ses murs en hémicycle sont ornés d'une rangée d'arcatures. A cet édifice roman ont été ajoutées des constructions postérieures. Surmontant le transept, se dresse la tour rectangulaire du clocher (17e siècle) , percée de deux baies en plein cintre sur ses faces Est et ouest, et d'une seule sur les deux autres faces.

History
In 1096, this church was included, by a bull, in the dependencies of the priory of Sauxillanges. There was, at Saint-Victor, a priory which was subject to the abbey of La Chaise-Dieu and which was united, in 1347, to the convent of the Benedictions of Saint-Robert de Montferrand. The building comprises a nave of two bays vaulted in round arch. The barrel vault rests on each side on two arches taking support in the middle of the nave on an engaged column whose capitals are sculpted with broad acanthus leaves and two circular motifs. The transept is separated from the nave by a round arch. The sanctuary, separated from the choir by an arch, is vaulted with a barrel vault. Its hemicycle walls are ornamented with a row of arcatures. To this Romanesque building were added later constructions. Surmounting the transept, stands the rectangular tower of the bell tower (17th century), pierced by two round-arch openings on its east and west faces, and by only one on the two other faces.
