History

This castle, whose origins date back to 1147, is an interesting example of adaptation of a medieval castle to a classical seigneurial residence. To make room for 18th century apartments, the Gothic framework was transformed without being destroyed, and the great courtyard facade neighbours the old towers. Inside the same juxtaposition of classical rooms and Gothic architecture is found. In the medieval parts are notable the chapel and the masterpiece of the castle, the Hall of the States, a room entirely decorated with heraldic emblems. Among the rooms of classical arrangement are to be noted the staircase and entrance gallery; the dining room, the great gallery as well as the music room on the first floor.
