Une famille féodale portant le nom de La Faye apparaît à partir du 12e siècle. Le système défensif se compose d'une enceinte quadrangulaire cantonnée de tours. Le chemin d'accès était défendu par une tour sud-est dominant l'ensemble de l'édifice. A l'intérieur de l'enceinte, deux corps de logis en vis-à-vis s'adossaient contre les courtines nord et sud. Le corps sud était coupé transversalement par la chapelle seigneuriale. Au 15e siècle, la courtine sud du château fut largement ouverte pour éclairer le corps de logis qui lui était adossé. Au 17e siècle, afin de rendre le château plus habitable, un long bâtiment à arcades fut construit dans le prolongement de l'entrée principale. Le château est abandonné depuis le 19e siècle et a été dépecé. Le corps de logis a presque entièrement disparu ; ne subsiste qu'une porte dont le chambranle est orné d'une accolade. La tour nord-est était autrefois couronnée de mâchicoulis dont il ne reste qu'un bandeau mouluré portant les corbeaux.

History
A feudal family bearing the name of La Faye appears from the 12th century onwards. The defensive system comprises a quadrangular enclosure flanked by towers. The access path was defended by a south-east tower dominating the entire building. Within the enclosure, two dwelling blocks facing one another were backed against the north and south curtain walls. The south block was cut across by the seigneurial chapel. In the 15th century, the south curtain wall of the castle was widely opened to light the dwelling block which was backed against it. In the 17th century, in order to make the castle more habitable, a long building with arcades was built in the extension of the main entrance. The castle has been abandoned since the 19th century and has been dismantled. The dwelling block has almost entirely disappeared; there remains only a door whose surround is ornamented with a hood moulding. The north-east tower was formerly crowned with machicolations of which only a moulded band remains bearing the corbels.
