Historique
Fondé en 918 par testament d'Amblard, archevêque de Lyon, le prieuré bénédictin de Luzillat fut, en 1050, réorganisé par Robert d'Aurillac, fondateur de l'abbaye de la Chaise-Dieu, et donné par lui à cette dernière. La cure relevant de l'archiprêtré de Limagne était à la collation du prieur du lieu. Au 18e siècle, elle passe à celle du chapitre de Vézelay au diocèse d'Autun. £Cette église se compose d'une nef de trois travées flanquée de collatéraux, d'un transept dont chaque bras ouvre sur une absidiole, et d'un choeur rectangulaire précédant une abside semi-circulaire. La nef est couverte d'un berceau brisé dont les arcs doubleaux reposent sur des chapiteaux à corbeilles sculptées de feuillages. Choeur, transept et absidioles datent de la fin du 12e siècle. History
Founded in 918 by the will of Amblard, archbishop of Lyon, the Benedictine priory of Luzillat was, in 1050, reorganised by Robert d'Aurillac, founder of the abbey of La Chaise-Dieu, and given by him to the latter. The rectory falling under the archpresbytery of Limagne was subject to the collation of the prior of the place. In the 18th century, it passed to that of the chapter of Vézelay in the diocese of Autun. This church is composed of a nave of three bays flanked by aisles, a transept each arm of which opens onto an apsidiole, and a rectangular choir preceding a semicircular apse. The nave is covered with a pointed barrel vault whose arched ribs rest on capitals with corbels sculpted with foliage. Choir, transept and apsidioles date from the end of the 12th century. Nave of the 13th century. Windows and buttresses of the aisles, west façade and some capitals to the west of the 14th century.
