History

Built in the early 12th century or early 13th century, it was originally a feudal castle consisting of a massive keep flanked by four towers, protected by three detached towers connected by an enclosure, and surrounded by moats. In the 16th century, the building received an Italianate decoration in its external galleries supporting terraces, as well as the chapel whose stained glass windows date from the 16th and 17th centuries. From this latter century and the 18th century date the transformations of the dining room and the great hall with painted ceiling. Of the 17th-century park, which the owners had planned to transform at the end of the 18th century, only three basins remain in the middle of a vast meadow where there are two small pavilions from the 18th century. The outbuildings date from the 18th century.
