Historique
Siège d'un fief, le château aurait été fondé en 1580. Sa reconstruction, au 18e siècle, s'est achevée en 1761. Le château se présente avec l'ordonnance très classique d'un corps de logis flanqué de quatre pavillons et complété par deux ailes de communs qui délimitent une cour d'entrée rectangulaire fermée par un mur percé d'un portail. Côté jardin, la façade est soulignée par des emmarchements qui descendaient vers des parterres à la française remplacés par un parc à l'anglaise. Les façades portent la marque de l'architecture provinciale du 18e siècle. L'aménagement et le décor intérieurs ont été exécutés vers 1750 par une équipe d'ébénistes italiens. Toutes les pièces ont été habillées de boiseries d'un style provincial. La plupart des boiseries étaient peintes. History
Seat of a fief, the château is said to have been founded in 1580. Its reconstruction, in the 18th century, was completed in 1761. The château presents the very classical arrangement of a main dwelling flanked by four pavilions and supplemented by two wings of outbuildings which delimit a rectangular entrance court closed by a wall pierced with a gateway. On the garden side, the façade is emphasised by flights of steps which descended towards parterres in the French style replaced by an English park. The façades bear the mark of 18th-century provincial architecture. The interior layout and decoration were executed around 1750 by a team of Italian cabinet-makers. All the rooms were lined with timber framing in a provincial style. Most of the timber framing was painted. In the main rooms, the wainscoting is complemented by panels of Aubusson or Felletin tapestry.
