Historique
Croix comprenant trois parties : un socle carré avec "cave", c'est-à-dire un abri pour maintenir au frais le bousset du vigneron (Saint-Verny étant le patron des vignerons auvergnats) ; un piédestal en forme de tronc de pyramide ; une croix de section cylindrique. Le Christ crucifié est placé du côté de la vigne et Saint-Verny face au chemin. Sculpté en haut-relief au centre de la croix, il est supporté par un calot. Coiffé d'un petit chapeau rond, il est vêtu d'une casaque longue ou d'une blouse. Les mains du saint se joignent au centre. L'une tient une serpe à talon, l'autre un sarment de vigne avec raisin. Chien et besace sont représentés en bas-relief, au-dessous de la console. Ce petit édicule appartient à un art populaire qui a été florissant et dont beaucoup de témoins ont déjà disparu.

History
Cross comprising three parts: a square base with "cave", that is to say a shelter to keep cool the bouquet of the vintner (Saint-Verny being the patron of Auvergne vignerons); a pedestal in the form of a truncated pyramid; a cross of cylindrical section. The crucified Christ is placed on the side of the vineyard and Saint-Verny facing the path. Sculpted in high relief at the centre of the cross, he is supported by a calotte. Wearing a small round hat, he is dressed in a long tunic or smock. The hands of the saint join at the centre. One holds a pruning hook with a heel, the other a vine branch with grapes. Dog and satchel are represented in low relief, below the console. This small edifice belongs to a popular art which has been flourishing and many witnesses of which have already disappeared.
