Les Carmélites de Ploërmel étaient une colonie des Carmélites de Vannes. Sa fondation eut lieu le 15 octobre 1627. Un aveu du 9 décembre 1676 donne d'intéressants détails sur l'état primitif de la maison et sur son développement : les bâtiments rangés autour d'un cloître carré, renfermaient en bas une cuisine, un réfectoire, une salle capitulaire, des parloirs... au premier étage, les cellules des religieuses, la lingerie, une salle de travail. La chapelle actuelle a été construite vers 1750. Les Carmélites furent expulsées le 1er octobre 1792.

History
The Carmelites of Ploërmel were a colony of the Carmelites of Vannes. Its foundation took place on 15 October 1627. An acknowledgment of 9 December 1676 gives interesting details on the primitive state of the house and on its development: the buildings arranged around a square cloister, contained on the ground floor a kitchen, a refectory, a chapter house, parlours... on the first floor, the cells of the nuns, the linen room, a workroom.
