Historique
Le fort se présente sous la forme d'un pentagone irrégulier aux angles amortis. La pointe dirigée vers le large sépare les deux côtés les plus longs. Au milieu de chacun de ces côtés, une petite caponnière semi-circulaire garnie de cinq créneaux, permet de battre les fossés. La couverture de cette caponnière est intérieurement en ogive et extérieurement en cône. L'entrée du fort, à l'opposé du large, présente une porte étroite qui a probablement été garnie d'un pont-levis. La porte passée, deux escaliers permettent de monter aux remparts et l'on trouve, immédiatement après, deux petits bâtiments avec un rez-de-chaussée, un étage et un comble, bâtiments qui devaient servir de logement à la garnison. Un mur en contrescarpe limite le fossé qui entoure cet ouvrage.

History
The fort presents itself in the form of an irregular pentagon with blunted angles. The point directed towards the sea separates the two longest sides. In the middle of each of these sides, a small semi-circular casemate fitted with five crenels, allows the fossés to be swept. The covering of this casemate is internally an ogive and externally a cone. The entrance to the fort, opposite the sea, presents a narrow door which probably was fitted with a drawbridge. Once through the door, two stairways allow access to the ramparts and one finds, immediately after, two small buildings with a ground floor, one storey and roof space, buildings which were to serve as lodging for the garrison. A counterscarp wall limits the fossé which surrounds this work.
