Les trois greniers à sel du Breno ont été édifiés entre 1830 et 1840 par la Compagnie des Salines de Carnac, créée à la Restauration. Ces longs corps de bâtiment en granit, aux murs aveugles, espacés d'une centaine de mètres, sont installés au coeur même des salines sur la digue d'exploitation. Le site de production comportait 32 oeillets. Situés à la frange des salines, ils permettaient de stocker à l'abri des intempéries le sel récolté dans les oeillets aujourd'hui disparus. Ces greniers témoignent d'une des principales activités de Carnac.

History
The three salt warehouses of Breno were built between 1830 and 1840 by the Compagnie des Salines de Carnac, created at the Restoration. These long buildings of granite, with blind walls, spaced about a hundred metres apart, are installed in the very heart of the salt marshes on the exploitation dyke. The production site comprised 32 salt ponds. Located at the edge of the salt marshes, they allowed the salt harvested in the salt ponds, which have now disappeared, to be stored sheltered from bad weather. These warehouses testify to one of the principal activities of Carnac.
