L'enceinte de l'anse de Vigneux est un retranchement en terre d'un intérêt exceptionnel, situé sur les bords de la Rance. Connu actuellement à Saint-Suliac sous la dénomination de l'Huitrière, cette enceinte est de forme hexagonale pour des dimensions moyennes de 120 sur 140 m. Une de ses particularités est d'être construite dans une zone recouverte par la mer à marée haute. Il est difficile de dater ce type de fortifications, au plan au demeurant peu commun. Aucune fouille n'y a pour l'instant été effectuée. A la fin du 19e siècle, un ostréiculteur à qui cette enceinte avait été concédée, fit quelques découvertes archéologiques (objets en fer, ossements, bois) en y réalisant des travaux d'aménagement. Le site fait actuellement partie de la zone concédée à EDF pour le barrage de la Rance. Il s'agirait d'un retranchement normand présentant des similitudes avec le camp du vieux M'na à Trans (Ille-et-Vilaine) , notamment en ce qui concerne la structure et la section trapézoïdale des talus empierrés. D'autres arguments sont avancés pour l'interprétation et pour l'identification de ce site à Gardoyne ou Gardayne, mentionné comme site normand dans le Roman d'Aquin écrit au 12e cièle. Une étude de la toponymie tendrait à confirmer cette hypothèse.

The enclosure of Vigneux cove is an earthwork retrenchment of exceptional interest, situated on the banks of the Rance. Known currently at Saint-Suliac under the name of l'Huitrière, this enclosure is of hexagonal form with average dimensions of 120 by 140 m.
