The manoir of Kernault was built around 1420-1430 by the family of Talhouët. Jean de Talhouët, who in 1420 was clerk of silverware at the Chamber of Accounts, performed between 1423 and 1433 the functions of manager of the household of the Duchess of Brittany. The dwelling underwent in 1627 repairs (floorboards, fireplaces) which did not alter the structure of the medieval building. The southern outbuildings in timber framing, of the same type as the gallery of Tréhardet in Bignan, were built at the same time. The dwelling underwent a new campaign of rearrangement around 1750, with the installation of new interior decoration by Forestier le Jeune and the enlargement of the openings of the south elevation. Despite these works and the addition of a few random buildings in the 19th and 20th centuries, the whole has retained medieval and classical decoration of quality and remains representative of a rural noble dwelling of the 15th-17th centuries.
