The château was rebuilt from 1724 by the Carcaradec family, replacing a medieval manor that already existed in the 13th century. In the 19th century, carpenters continued the interior decoration with woodwork. The park was laid out in the 19th century around the château. The pond situated behind the residence was dug out and paved, the great avenues planted, the old garden demolished and replaced by a vegetable garden. Its principal features are the determining role of perspectives, the importance of water, the predominance of wooded spaces. New elements were added at this period, linked to pleasure or to the economy of the domain: ice-house, bread oven, greenhouses, carriage house, saddlery. Vestiges of the 18th century were preserved (dovecote, boat shed, great stable, lower courtyard). The whole is representative of the organisation of a 19th-century park around a large 18th-century residence. The great equestrian statue dates from 1914 and is due to Geoffroy de Ruillé.
