Un concours fut ouvert en 1822 pour l'érection d'une église dédiée à Notre-Dame-de-Lorette devant desservir le quartier nouveau de Saint-Georges. L'architecture proposée par Hippolyte Lebas, élève de Percier, s'inspire des basiliques chrétiennes de Rome. Le riche programme iconographique a nécessité la collaboration de nombreux artistes. C'est un des édifices les plus caractéristiques de l'époque de la Restauration, consacré en 1836.

History
A competition was opened in 1822 for the erection of a church dedicated to Notre-Dame-de-Lorette intended to serve the new quarter of Saint-Georges. The architecture proposed by Hippolyte Lebas, pupil of Percier, draws inspiration from the Christian basilicas of Rome. The rich iconographic programme necessitated the collaboration of many artists. It is one of the most characteristic buildings of the Restoration period, consecrated in 1836.
